Donors Become Sponsors

Reasons why you should give:
The main reason to give is because you will be donating to a new, innovative non profit which will use the funds to directly pay down student loan debt and give local non profits valuable, consistent volunteer labor. If you still aren't convinced, here are several other reasons:

• You get a tax write off
• You get double the good will for your money
• You get weekly reports showing exactly how your funds are being used
• You get to help your local community
• You get to designate what types of non profit activities you want your funds to benefit

The Green Light Campaign
Charity for Debt needs your help to address many challenges in today's world. The Green Light Fundraising Campaign is aimed at identifying founding donors for a $10,000 pilot program. The program would place 10 volunteers (at a debt reduction equivalent of $1,000 each) at a charity for six hours per week for six weeks in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas. Volunteers would be monitored and, together with the charities and donors, solicited for detailed feedback to be used to improve the model for future programs across America.

More than 150 volunteer applications have already been received. We now need donations to sponsor the first 10 volunteers for the pilot program.

Becoming a Donor
A donation of $1,000 or more will allow you to select a volunteer who exemplifies the values and interests that are important to you. You and the volunteer you select would identify the charitable organization where he/she will contribute much needed time and energy. During the volunteer’s program, you will receive weekly updates on his/her activities and progress as well as a final summary of experiences and contributions. Your feedback will provide valuable information for shaping additional programs across the country.

Four donors have each pledged $1,000 each to sponsor two volunteers for the six- week pilot program already. More donors are needed to provide this opportunity to eight more volunteers. Our goal is to raise the remaining $6,000 by May 30, 2008.

One donor has agreed to match donations received (up to $10,000) during the Green Light Campaign to build an interactive online community that will allow donors to quickly and easily communicate with volunteers online and through e-mail. We need your help to reach our goal of $10,000 in donations so we can take advantage of this matching opportunity.
